STING BEACH CLUB FAQ CONTACT Beach Director: Sara Voigt: coachsaravoigt@gmail.com GENERAL PROGRAM 1. What programs does STING Beach offer? STING Beach consistently offers a seasonal beach club during the months of June, July and August. The programs offered are a Beach Club for more developed and advanced players and a Sand Stars program as an introduction to volleyball and/or the beach game. Members of the STING Beach Club will also have the ability to enter local or regional competition. 2. What are the cost of the programs? STING’s cost is competitive with other sand volleyball options in the Badger Region. Costs cover the practices, administrative fees, coaching expenses, and equipment costs. For any athlete participating in sand tournament competition, families are responsible for any tournament entry fee, related travel expenses, and room and board. STING coaches will be present at specific tournaments, to coach active STING Beach athletes if so desired.
3. Where are practices located? STING Beach is based out of The AMAZING sand courts of the New Berlin Entertainment Center which is located at 16000 W Cleveland Ave, New Berlin, WI 53151
4. What are the practice days and practice times? Practice days are Tuesday and Thursday with Wednesdays used as a “make up day” in case of a practice having to cancel due to poor weather conditions. Practice times are either 10a-12p or 12:30-2:00pm. 4a. How does weather influence practices? Beach practices are typically run in most weather conditions. If changes to practices are going to be made, text messages and STING social media are the main way that information will be communicated.
5. What should be worn/brought to practice? We highly suggest that athletes wear comfortable athletic clothes, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and have water to drink. Players are asked to bring their own supply of water, sunscreen and sunglasses. As the sand warms up or cools down with the seasons, we recommend socks. We will have a limited loaner supply of socks on hand. 5a. Is STING beach gear required to be worn at practices and tournaments? While it is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged. STING beach gear is available through our program sponsor FriscoMo. You can contact JT Deppe with apparel questions or check out the FriscoMo website here. 6. Can I participate in the STING Beach Club if I wasn’t part of the MKE Sting Indoor Club? Yes you can! We welcome all players of all ages ability who love playing beach volleyball and want to improve their skills.
REGISTRATION/PAYMENT 7. Do I need a partner to attend STING Beach Club, Tournaments or Clinics? It is not necessary to have a partner to attend. We do a lot of partner pairing within the scope of the practices to help you find a successful match. However it’s never a bad idea to bring a partner if you have one in mind to be able to work on your “team” skills. If you would like additional help in finding partners to compete in tournaments with, Sting Beach Club staff are available to help connect players in our beach club.
11. I Have Questions About My Payment or Account Balance…who Can I Contact? Please email the CFO, Ted Schulte ( ted@milwaukeesting.com ) for any questions regarding finance or account balance information. You may also be able to check your order history of online purchases if you have a login account on our website. Please note refunds for our programs are offered for season ending injury or prior to 7 days before the start of the program only.
TOURNAMENTS 12. I’ve been training and want to try out a tournament, where should I play? STING Beach provides a comprehensive list of tournaments that are available for athletes to play in around the state of Wisconsin and the drivable surrounding states. Our staff is also here to offer guidance on what events and divisions are the right fit for you. 12a. I want to play a tournament, but don’t have a partner? Practices offer an opportunity to play with a variety of players and perhaps find a partner. Our STING Beach Director Sara Voigt is also available to help connect athletes within the club to partner up. Please speak with her at a practice or by email at coachsaravoigt@gmail.com
13. How do I get tournament result posted on the STING Instagram? If you have finished top 3 or better, send a text to Sara Voigt at 262-957-7293.
