Bizzie Gonring – MKE Sting Mental Performance Coach
In addition to her current coaching role with 14 Gold, Bizzie will join the Milwaukee Sting staff as the club’s Mental Performance Coach for the 2020-2021 season. In this role, Bizzie will offer individual sessions to players within the club that want to work through sport related mental struggles, or want to increase their overall performance and mental skills. Some areas to address may include performance anxiety and/ gaining confidence, concentration, motivation, communication problems, mentally returning from a sport-related injury, and maintaining a mental edge. Bizzie will also be available to all Sting teams that are interested in mental performance workshops or team meetings to work through some of the above issues. Bizzie will introduce to players and teams a variety of interventions that include goal setting for motivation, self-talk and mental imagery, increasing concentration and focus in performance, communication skills, team building and time-management. Although Bizzie does work full-time as a mental health therapist outside of Sting, she will distinguish herself in this role as a mental performance consultant only, and will work specifically on mental struggles as they relate to sport.
Bizzie has been a coach with Sting for the past 2 seasons, and was a player with the club from 2005-2011. She went on to play at NCAA DII Assumption College from 2011-2015, and received her Master’s in Education in Counseling and Sports Psychology from Boston University in 2018. |
